Add-in for Autodesk Inventor 2027

Model directly on your laser scans – inside Inventor.

Open E57 and LAS point clouds, clean out the noise, slice through the building, and let Point Cloud Pro find the walls, floors and edges for you. Then fit planes, offsets and 3D lines straight onto the scan and design your parts with confidence.

Features

From raw scan to clean Inventor geometry

Point Cloud Pro brings the tools you normally juggle between separate programs into one tab inside Inventor.

Point cloud of a room shown in true scan colours

Open and colour your scan

Load E57, LAS, PTS or XYZ files with every point. Colour by scan RGB, intensity, elevation, classification or detected plane, and set point size and density from the ribbon.

Point cloud coloured by intensity, ready for clean-up

Clean out noise – safely

Find stray points and floating clusters – people, traffic, reflections – marked in red before anything is deleted. Flatten scanner grain on walls while corners stay sharp. Undo any step.

Horizontal slice through a point cloud with the slice plane and push and pull arrows

Slice and clip in real time

Cut horizontal or vertical sections and push or pull them through the building by dragging in the view. A rotatable clip box lines up with walls that aren’t square to the axes.

Walls, floor, column and beam of a scanned room automatically detected and colour-coded

Automatic plane detection

Walls, floors, ceilings, slabs and columns are found automatically and colour-coded. Turn the largest surfaces into work planes, sized to the real wall, in one click.

Straight edges drawn where detected walls and floor meet

Clean edges where planes meet

Straight edges are created only where two real surfaces meet – no stray points – and sent to a 3D sketch with the corners joined, ready to build on.

Work plane fitted to a scanned wall from a few clicked points

Model right on the scan

Fit a plane with a few clicks – it refits live and snaps level or plumb. Edge from two planes, corner from three, offsets, work points, 3D lines and measurements, all snapping to the cloud.

Mesh from the scan

Build a coloured mesh: Flat surfaces turns walls and floors into perfectly flat faces with window and door openings kept; Freeform wraps any shape. Save as OBJ or STL, or bring it into the part.

The 50-second tour

Loading, colouring, live slicing, plane detection, edges and fitting a plane – the whole workflow in under a minute.

Workflow

Built for cladding, façade and fit-out work

Measure once with the scanner, then design panels, brackets and sheet-metal parts against the real building – not a tape-measure sketch.

  1. 1

    Open the scan

Export E57 from ReCap or your scanner software and open it on the Point Cloud Pro tab.

  2. 2

    Clean and isolate

Remove noise, flatten grain, and clip or slice down to the elevation you’re working on.

  3. 3

    Detect and fit

Detect the wall planes and edges, or fit planes yourself, and add offsets for your build-up.

  4. 4

    Design in Inventor

Sketch and build your sheet-metal panels and parts on real work planes and edges.

Questions

Which version of Inventor does it work with?

Point Cloud Pro is built for Autodesk Inventor 2027 on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. It adds its own Point Cloud Pro tab to the ribbon in parts and assemblies.

Which scan files can I open?

E57, LAS, PTS, XYZ, TXT and CSV. For ReCap projects (.rcp / .rcs), use Export → E57 in ReCap and open that file.

Will cleaning change my original scan file?

No. Cleaning works on the points loaded in Inventor – your file on disk is never changed. Noise is shown in red before anything is removed, and every clean-up step can be undone.

How does the free trial work?

Install Point Cloud Pro and request a trial key. You get every feature for 14 days. When you’re ready, buy a perpetual licence and activate it on the same computer.

How is the licence activated?

Each licence is for one computer. The activation window shows your Machine ID – send it to us and you receive a licence file to load. Activation works offline, and if you replace your computer we issue a new key.

Are my scans uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs on your computer inside Inventor. Your scans and models never leave your machine.
